General information
The R&S FSH3-TV TV analyzer combines the functions and capabilities of a full spectrum analyzer with the functions of a TV signal test receiver. It can be taken anywhere and is ideal for technicians who perform measurements in the field - for example during installation or service and repair work on cable TV networks and transmitters.
Reliable and portable
The compact body of the device is designed for mobile use. Reliably protected housing ribs and protective covers of HF connectors protect the R&S FSH3-TV from mechanical influences and bad weather. The R&S FSH3-TV weighs only 2,8 kg. The sturdy carrying handle also makes it easier to read the display when the device is placed on a flat surface. In addition, the built-in stand allows you to place the R&S FSH3-TV at an optimal angle for reading readings. A powerful built-in NiMH battery ensures the operation of the device for four hours, allowing it to work in remote locations.
Convenient to work
The R&S FSH3-TV is operated using a convenient system of menus and soft keys. Frequent functions can be called directly. In addition, options and menu items can be easily selected using the rotary knob. Measured values and menu items are displayed on the backlit color liquid crystal display. The display is easy to read even in adverse lighting conditions (in bright sunlight).
Excellently equipped
The delivery set of the R&S FSH3-TV TV analyzer includes a television board, an amplifier and a tracking generator. The TV board allows you to measure and demodulate analog TV signals. The demodulated video signal captured from the output, which can operate in composite mode (analogue TV) or TS-ASI (digital TV), can be fed to a monitor or an MPEG decoder. To listen to the sound of analog TV, you can use the included headphones.
Intended for TV
The R&S FSH3-TV TV analyzer offers the same set of functions as any spectrum analyzer in the R&S FSH family from Rohde & Schwarz. However, it has additional features and accessories designed specifically to serve cable and terrestrial television networks.
The main extension is a television board built into the device. This board provides additional functions for analysis and demodulation of digital and analog TV signals. The list of supported standards is shown in the table below. The R&S FSH3-TV uses an N-type connector (50Ω) as the HF input. To ensure the necessary matching when connecting the R&S FSH3-TV to cable TV components or, for example, to TV antennas with an impedance of 75 Ω, you can use the additional 50 Ω/75 Ω impedance converters - R&S RAZ and R&S FSH-Z38.

If the R&S FSH3-TV is expected to be used frequently with cable networks, it is recommended to use the new R&S FSHTV-Z60 preselector. This addition, which includes the R&S FSH3-TV broadband RF input in front, extends the dynamic range, which is especially important in the case of cable systems with a densely packed spectrum.
The additional preselector is simply screwed into the HF input of the R&S FSH3-TV and connected to it with a control cable. Power to the preselector is supplied through the control cable. A type F socket with an impedance of 75 Ohm is used as the HF input of the preselector. If this connector is damaged, it is easily replaced and the R&S FSH3-TV can be used again immediately.
