General information
The R&S FSH3-TV TV analyzer combines the functions and capabilities of a complete spectrum analyzer with the functions of a TV test receiver. It can be taken anywhere and is ideal for technicians taking measurements in the field, such as during installation or service and repair work on TV cable networks and transmitters.
Reliable and portable
The compact body of the device is designed for mobile use. Well-protected housing edges and protective covers for the RF connectors protect the R&S FSH3-TV from mechanical impacts and bad weather. The R&S FSH3-TV weighs only 2,8 kg. The sturdy carrying handle also makes the display easier to read when the instrument is placed on a flat surface. In addition, the built-in stand allows the R&S FSH3-TV to be positioned at the optimum angle for reading. The powerful built-in NiMH battery provides up to four hours of operation, allowing you to work in remote locations.
Convenient to work
The R&S FSH3-TV is controlled using a user-friendly menu system and programmable keys. Frequently used functions can be called directly. In addition, parameter values and menu items can be easily selected using the rotary knob. Measured values and menu items are displayed on a backlit color LCD. The display is easy to read even in adverse lighting conditions (in bright sunlight).
Perfectly equipped
The TV analyzer R&S FSH3-TV comes with a TV board, a preamplifier and a tracking generator. The TV board allows you to measure and demodulate analog TV signals. The demodulated video output, which can be either composite (analogue TV) or TS-ASI (digital TV), can be fed to an external monitor or MPEG decoder. You can use the included headphones to listen to analog TV sound.
Designed for TV
The R&S FSH3-TV TV analyzer offers the same feature set as any spectrum analyzer in the R&S FSH family from Rohde & Schwarz. However, it has additional features and accessories specifically designed to serve cable television and terrestrial television networks.
The main extension is the TV board built into the device. This board provides additional functions for analyzing and demodulating digital and analog TV signals. The list of supported TV standards is shown in the table below. The R&S FSH3-TV uses an N type connector (50Ω) as the RF input. To achieve the required matching when connecting the R&S FSH3-TV to cable TV components or, for example, to TV antennas with an impedance of 75Ω, the optional 50Ω/75Ω impedance converters R&S RAZ and R&S FSH-Z38 can be used.
TV standard | |
FSH3-TV (base unit) | B, G, H, D/K, N,I, LM/NTSC, M/PAL |
FSHTV-K21 (option) | DVB-C (J.83/A/C)J.83/B |
FSHTV-K22 (option) | ATSC/8VSB |
If the R&S FSH3-TV is to be used frequently for cable networks, the new R&S FSHTV-Z60 preselector is recommended. This addition, placed before the wideband RF input of the R&S FSH3-TV, extends the dynamic range, which is especially important in densely filled cable systems.
The optional preselector is simply screwed onto the RF input of the R&S FSH3-TV and connected to it with a control cable. Power is supplied to the preselector via the control cable. The RF input of the preselector uses an F-type jack with an impedance of 75 ohms. Should this connector be damaged, it can be easily replaced and the R&S FSH3-TV can be used again immediately.
