Radiation in the vertical plane consists not only of the main lobe, but side lobes are also inevitably present. If the antenna has some electrical beam tilt, then the upper side lobes can radiate towards the horizon, thereby interfering with nearby cells. Antennas with improved sidelobe suppression (ESLS antennas) are designed to prevent interference not only with the first upper sidelobe, but with all lobes in the 20-degree sector. These antennas are especially useful in the process of optimizing 3G (UMTS) networks.
Antennas of this series are capable of suppressing the first upper side lobe up to 25 dB, and in the 20-degree sector up to 20 dB.
